Friday evening was “Cruisin’ Night” sponsored by the Yates County Chamber of Commerce.

On a back road west of Geneva, chasing the setting sun toward Penn Yan, Laurel and I spotted this cat snoozing in the high window of a stone barn. Still warm in the fresh shadows, he appeared intent on completing his nap and remained supremely unintimidated by my approach and mumbles and clickings.

–Ah, Nature!
–A gently meandering stream, its glassy surface reflects the verdant boughs and cirrus wisps of a late summer afternoon.
–Within its cool bosom: flitting minnows, marine ferns, mossy rocks, lily pads, semi-drowned shopping cart.
