On Halloween day, 2007, we made an offer to purchase a house in Yates County, New York.  The offer was accepted the same day, launching us into five (and counting)  months of headache surrounding financing, selling our house in Brooklyn, New York, and moving our possessions.

We are almost completely transitioned to Yates County full-time, though the reflex to knock on any available nearby wood is still a ritual for us,  even now.  It has not been a simple process, but then house-buying is never easy.  The economy and mortgage crisis has made it all the more challenging.

We are in Yates County at least part time now, and so have started this chronicle of lifestyle change as we transition from a large metropolitan city to a village.  It is officially spring now and there isn’t any better time to begin something new.
