Second Floor Landing

Second Floor Landing

The second floor landing, is a lovely little space, just right for a couple of chairs. We refer to this as our “book nook” and keep this area supplied with paperbacks, expecting to utlize the “take one, leave one” concept when we have guests.

It is a cozy area and I enjoy spending time reading and having a cup of tea here. The window overlooks Main Street, and in the spring and summer enjoyable breezes waft through the window along with the clip-clop sounds of the local Mennonites in their horse and buggies as they travel.

In this area, which in terms of furnishings, could well be dubbed “version 1.0”; the large framed poster is one I picked up a very long time ago, issued (appropriately, I think) from the Rare Book Room of New York Public Library. Safavieh carpet, Fitz and Floyd bookend, and an ancient hand-painted clay camel I made is sitting on the table looking out the window. The empty version of the room below looks so very different because it is portrait rather than landscape view and it was not taken with a wide-angle lens. But it is the same space, as you can tell. Photos by Llewellyn, of course.

What a cozy spot! I have two similar areas in mind for our place and a local consignment place has a lit bookshelf that I’m keeping my eye on for the center upstairs hall.

I love the chairs! Where did you get those?

Thanks! Great about the bookshelf, we would actually like to replace the one in the photo. The chairs are actually an eBay acquisition. Couldn’t resist the price and what I hoped would be a good color match!
